Valencia Basket men’s team plays its third consecutive home game as it faces a challenge it has not yet managed to overcome: defeating Olympiacos Piraeus at home. This will be the Greek side’s first visit to the Roig Arena (Tuesday 24, 8:30 PM, Movistar+ Plus) in a game corresponding to Round 33 of the EuroLeague.
The taronja team will count on the support of its fans on one of the biggest European nights remaining this season, aiming to fight together and try to end its historic negative streak against this opponent at home, having lost all eight previous meetings in Valencia.
On a night in which the Greek side draws level with ASVEL as the team Valencia has faced most often in European competitions, captain Josep Puerto could play his 115th EuroLeague game in taronja colors, which would make him the player with the most appearances in the top continental competition for the club.
In an exciting clash between two of the best offenses in the competition, Pedro Martínez’s men will need to contain the tournament’s top interior duo (Vezenkov and Milutinov), as well as the scoring of Olympiacos’ talented perimeter players, if they are to protect their home court against this opponent for the first time.
In the first-round matchup, Valencia staged a comeback in the final quarter to win 92–99, making the overall head-to-head record 5–12 in favor of the Greek side.
Valencia is monitoring the fitness of the three players who missed Sunday’s game against Covirán Granada due to injury: Jean Montero, Kameron Taylor, and Xabi López-Arostegui.
Valencia Basket begins this round in fourth place in the EuroLeague standings with a 20–12 record.
